‘I’ll always be a Celtic fan’ says Aston Villa star John McGinn

John McGinn has spoken of his love for Celtic.

The Aston Villa midfielder scored after just nine minutes of his first game in the Premier League, before Spurs came back to win 3-1.

That goal further enhanced McGinn’s reputation down south, but the former Hibs star will always have an eye on results in Glasgow.

Speaking on talkSPORT, McGinn said: “I’m still a Celtic supporter. I was watching the game at the weekend, and I always will be.

“It will never leave you. But I have to focus on doing my best for Aston Villa and whatever comes up in the future we will take it from there.

“I am still a Celtic supporter and the boys here know I harp on about it all the time but I’m fully focused on Villa.”

The Scotland international replied “That’s too hard a question” when asked how Villa’s support compares with that of Celtic.

McGinn credited Hibs with instilling in him the right mindset for life in English football’s top flight, saying: “Hibs are on a different scale to Aston Villa but the demands were still the same.

“When you got beat it was like the world was ending.

“Being a Celtic supporter it’s the same thing. If you lose one game. So hopefully that feeling doesn’t come around too often.”
