Wolverhampton’s Ruben Vinagre managed to sneak into our awards night nominees, he wasn’t the biggest shocker though. It was Manchester United’s Timothy Fosu-Mensah, he found his way into our awards after a disappointing season at Fulham on loan. Both young Premier League players were nominated for the ‘highest top speed’ award and had to fight off Manchester City’s Kyle Walker.
The Squawka awards weren’t just packed with outrageous names we had Sergio Aguero, Romelu Lukaku, Diogo Jota, Eden Hazard, Son Heung-min and Liverpool’s Sadio Mane competing for various awards. One of the most unusual awards went to the player with the most weaker foot goals. The winner of this award scored a fantastic eight goals with their weak foot. Another interesting award was the fewest touches per goal – Jamie Vardy, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Michy Batshuayi were the nominees. The winner took 42.1 touches per goal scored.
The award for the most sprints by a Premier League team was interesting with no surprises Jurgen Klopp’s hardworking Liverpool side were involved, alongside them were Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth and Marco Silva’s Everton.
Let us know what stats you would like to see on our next Squawka awards night!
